 The National Universities Commission (NUC) says it has not abolished the study of Mass Communication in Nigerian universities, saying that the course has just been unbundled into seven other degree programmes. Mr Ibrahim Yakasai, the NUC Director of Corporate Affairs disclosed this on Friday in Abuja while clarifying the commission’s position on some online reports claiming that the NUC had phased out Mass Communication. Yakasai urged universities wishing to run the new programmes to seek permission from the commission before running them. He also said that universities across the country have authority of the commission to begin the programmes as soon as they met the necessary requirements. According to him, the NUC has only unbundled Mass Communication due to increasing demands from students. “Any university who want to begin the new programmes must first write officially to the commission to carry out accreditation. “Mass communication is still very much available as

  A German city has built a series of pods for homeless people to be able to sleep in.  According to a report, the units, known as 'Ulmer Nest', were installed on January 8 by officials in Ulm, about 75 miles west of Munich, to provide shelter for sleepers during the cold winter months.  The pods, which are made from wood and steel, were put in parks and other places, a spokesman for the city said. To shield the homeless from the wind and cold, the beds have been equipped with thermal insulation. They are also big enough for use by two individuals.  There are no cameras, and when they are in use, sensors are triggered.  Those behind the project, amid some delays, announced that they had eventually been rolled out just as the weather began to take a turn for the worse.
